Friday the 7th of April was a very exciting day for me, because at approximately 4:25pm I gave a live speal on Australian national radio about my dramatic morning in purchasing the hotly contested Arctic Monkeys tickets.
I wrote into Triple J's Great Day/Crap day segment with Robbie Buck's Topshelf radio. (This is where you request a song for a great day and a song for a crap day). A lady from the station called me on my mobile at about 3:15pm and said she'd call me back between 4:45 and 5:15pm.
I told family and some friends they could catch me on the radio at this time but Triple J ended up calling me at 4:20pm and only two people I told heard me on the radio, along with the rest of Australia who was tuning in at this time.
I spoke to Robbie Buck which was pretty cool and it was just like speaking to someone I knew over the phone. It was a great experience even though they couldn't play my song requests in the end, they played Mardy Bum from The Arctic Monkeys instead, which is still great because it's from them!
The story below is my post that you can find here on the Triple J website.
I was driving to work this morning listening to Triple J when I hear that the Arctic Monkeys concert tickets sold out! I didn't anticipate it selling out that quick, thinking I'd have time at work.
I was pretty disappointed but when I heard they were selling tickets to a second show at 9:30am I was determined to get those tickets!
I knew I wasn't going to make it to work in time for 9:30am so I thought I'd pull over and try the ticketek phone line from my mobile. Good use that did! After waiting 20 mins on the phone the guy on the other end told me he could only seccure one ticket and said that I should try purchasing them online! That was so CRAP! I was still 15mins from work!
That just wasn't good enough so I started the car and continued what seemed to be the longest trip to work in order to have a slim chance of getting tickets.
From 10am till 11am I would have to say I clicked on the ticket link at least 200 times and would you know I got those tickets!!!!!! WOOHOO! I'm seeing The Arctic Monkeys!!!!! YEAH!
Great Day (got 2 tix!!!!)-Bet You Look Good on the Dance Floor by the Artic Monkeys.
Crap Day (dedicated to the guy I spoke to on the phone who couldn't get me those tickets)-Scummy Man by the Arctic Monkeys

Lesosn number 2: there is no lesson number 2.
So... glad you got your tickets. Topshelf radio is Robbie Buck's new program huh? I don't listen to much radio at that time of day, still at work. You know that I know Robbie? He was our downstairs neighbour at that upstairs place I lived at Annandale. Those guys were the best neighbours.
Really you know Robbie Buck?! How cool is that! You know quite a few famous ppl aye? Or you've met them through your friends. He seems like a nice guy and he's quite funny too. I like his serial killer shave photos that he had done at the Sydney Big Day Out, it's featured on the Triple J website. You can find them here. I've been tuning in to Triple J online for a while using Windows Media Player.
The streaming isn't as good as radio but it keeps me going at work.
